Sometimes it’s not what you do but how you do it. Today we lost a living legend. Although Kobe is someone I never met, I feel like we grew up together.
I related to him in so many ways and admired his work ethic. A number of people can put a basketball through the hoop, but there was something about his dedication to the craft that made him special.
Was he the greatest to ever do it? I don’t know, who cares? The first thing everyone who knew him mentions is his ability to work harder than everyone else. I think that’s why I and many others rooted for him.
He separated himself from the competition not just because he happened to have the physical make up but what we did when no one was watching. Putting in the reps.
After Kobe retired I think everyone was expecting great things from him. Knowing how hard he worked on his basketball career we were all waiting for his next masterpiece.
Secretly we all wanted to see him have a son so he can go and dominate like his dad but over the last year we started to see his second daughter was going to take the mantle and we were ready for excellence to be seen again. Kobe was a proud girls dad!
I appreciate greatness maybe a little too much.
I really like this song as it calls for and recognizes greatness
Finally, I hope you can feel the call to greatness dripping from this podcast from another living great.
