As a “tool” I use small rewards to keep attention and motivate the behaviors I want to see in my Wednesday night bible study class.
I teach 12-14 young men and candy does the trick for now. In a few years it will be something else.
If we are honest we see this in society everyday. Sure you exchange time for money with a paycheck but the other things like a yearly bonus or fun Christmas time parties and gifts are small nudges.
I’m sure it has something to do with my personality. I tend to be a “towards” person vs an “avoid” person. I want to move towards God vs move away from hell. Or I want to move towards building an amazing business that helps families vs move away from poverty…. I’ll have to get deeper into that later.
